Tradeclient's users comment :Displaying 1 of 1 user comments. Needs some workby Anonymous on Dec 08, 2001I originally tried TradeClient because I wanted a nice GUI groupware client that could do IMAP and had a "complete" addressbook and calendar.
Unfortunately, TradeClient 0.9.0 is still not there. It has problems with our Sun Solstice IMAP server at work and has problems on my home network's Cyrus IMAP server. Also, I wanted to add SASL authentication support to my home network and apparently TradeClient doesn't support that. In a few months, my office will be switching to S/IMAP and it doesn't look like TradeClient supports that?
My other major problem with TradeClient as far as IMAP is concerned is that the IMAP folders just don't seem to fit in with the local folders... meaning that they seem to be an after-thought.
IMAP filtering would also be nice, but again - TradeClient doesn't support this. Also, the filtering support for POP even is pretty pathetic. I'd probably have to setup procmail locally if I changed over to POP in order to get filtering... but it seems TradeClient's mailbox format is not mbox!?!?!?
The addressbook is okay, I feel that Outlook's addressbook is a LOT nicer though.
I still haven't figured out how to add stuff to the Calendar??? Maybe this just isn't complete yet though. Also, when this part is finished - will I be able to share calendar info? Where I work, we have 2 mail servers - the Exchange server for the corporates and a Solaris Solstice server for the engineers. Eventually we will probably all be moved over to Exchange (yuck) because the boss wants everyone to be able to share appointment stuff - I guess what I'm asking is, will TradeClient be able to do this??
My last concern is that it seems (based on SourceForge) that this product is no longer being maintained - is this true?
