GNU Chess - Lets most modern computers play a full game of chess.

GNU Chess lets most modern computers play a full game of chess. It has a plain terminal interface but supports visual interfaces such as X-Windows "xboard" and Windows-for-PC "winboard" as well as a full 3-dimensional wooden chess-board protocol for the Novag Chess board enabling one to be relatively free of the computer itself. See the distribution README for explanation.
Yes, the program is "smarter" on faster machines since it takes less time to process potential moves. You can counter this by greatly reducing the amount of time per move allowed. I currently have mine set to 800 moves per minute but I still lose most games.

Gnu chess is great fun. I play it at work. It seems to be smarter on faster machines - is this true? It also always plays the same game if you repeat the same moves from the previous time. It would be good to vary and thus avoid identical games.
