| Installgen - Automate Oracle 8i/9i installs on Solaris, Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.Updated by dsimpson on Saturday, January 18th 2003. The Installgen application implements Oracle´s best practices for over 100 tasks required when performing the installation of Oracle primary and standby database servers. This graphical application generates dozens of scripts, configuration files and documentation within a few seconds. An external module allows site-specific customization of each generated file.Installgen makes use of 103 configuration parameters which are used in over 7000 locations within the 61 - 82 output scripts which are generated. Installgen does more than just perform variable substitutions of configuration parameters within the output code. Significant sections of code are customized based upon the user-entered configuration parameters. The cost of making a mistake writing or modifying these scripts manually would far exceed the licensing cost of Installgen. Licence : Commercial

Release Notes : Version 1.72 of Installgen generates the scripts required to automate the installation of Oracle 8.1.7 databases on 7 versions of Red Hat Linux. The installation procedures implemented by Installgen include the installation of Oracle patch 8.1.7.4. along with the installation of the correct version of glibc and Oracle-supplied glibc stubs files based upon the version of Red Hat Linux being used. Red Hat Linux versions 6.1, 6.2, 7.0, 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 8.0 and Advanced Server 2.1 are supported with this release of Installgen. Red Hat Linux versions 7.2, 7.3 and 8.0 are not certified by Oracle, however they are supported by Installgen to provide the DBA with flexibility when installing test versions of Oracle databases on low-cost hardware.
