As of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, the Live CD now makes it possible to start these features from first boot. This is great! I've been trying to switch to Linux for years too, but it was always some hardware incompatibility that drove me away. Now this is a fully featured system that is in many aspects and ideas much better than Windows XP. And when you enable some visual effects it surely beats Vista in visual department too without hogging down your machine. So why I'm still keeping Windows XP on my hard disk? - 2-3 programs and Games is all what is keeping it there, soon it will be only because of games (like a game console). Vista? No, thank you!

I tried to switch to Linux for years. Now I can. My sound, video, internet everything works. You don't have to use the shell. The install is easy almost effortless. I tried several different flavors before. Now I can use and learn Linux at my own pace. I have as good if not better desktop than I had in Windows XP. Plus I can use some of my Microsoft software in Wine. Do check first as not all Windows software will work with Wine.
Especially Games. Good games in Linux is the only negitive I can see at this time. I am keeping Linux this time.
