It is designed to be fully-featured without bloat, and aims for speed rather than visual effects. Built with the wxWidgets toolkit, it has a gtk appearance. In addition to standard file manager things, it offers multiple undo and redo of most operations (including deletions), archive management including 'virtual browsing' inside archives, multiple renaming/duplication of files, a terminal emulator and user-defined tools. There is a tarball, and binaries for the current versions of Debian, Ubuntu, Mepis, SUSE, Fedora, Mandriva, PCLinuxOS and Slackware at http://sourceforge.net/projects/fourpane/ http://www.4pane.co.uk/ has packages for older versions, and for Zenwalk, Puppy and Damn Small Linux, and an ebuild/overlay for Gentoo and Sabayon; plus a repository for the debs. Release Notes : There is a new feature: a Quick-Grep dialog which provides the commonest grep options on a single page. The original, multi-page Full-Grep is still available, of course. 4Pane is now designated 'stable'
