Enlightenment, Nice-looking Window manager for X.

Updated by Editors on Thursday, October 4, 2012.

Enlightenment is a window manager for X. It's design goal is to be as configurable as possible - in look AND in feel. Currently in the look department it pretty much has that done. you can design your own window borders, menus, and other elements of your screen to look any way you like. You don't have to touch one line of code and you don't have to recompile anything. It merely involves being able to use an image drawing program like GIMP and edit some configuration files.

Platforms: any system that supports X11R6
BSD type

(almost) as good as KDE or GNOME

GREAT Windowmanager: If Enlightenment had a taskbar or panel it could rival KDE and GNOME. At the moment it works great together with GNOME. And it is very configurable with great tools.

(well there is one problem, the Iconbox is great, but if you use the GNOME tasklist (in the GNOME panel) you will allways see the the Iconbox there, it should be invisible. So I don't use the tasklist).
