XCHM is a .chm viewer for UNIX (Linux, *BSD, Solaris), written by Razvan Cojocaru. Success stories of xCHM on Mac OS X have also been received, and apparently xCHM even works if compiled under the Cygwin environment in Windows. (more...)

Linux documentation can be found in man pages, info files, HOWTOs and FAQs, and elsewhere. (For example, also the kernel Documentation directory contains a lot of good stuff.) A nice index for the man pages in Fedora Core 2 is found at the superman site. Man pages belonging to programs are usually distributed together with those programs. (more...)

Man is a man pager. It has support for compressed pages (both man pages and cat pages), and for locale ($LANG) and for message catalogs ($LC_MESSAGES). It will format files given explicitly (man ./foo.man.gz). It conforms to FSSTND or FHS, and handles stray cats.
