Information we handle

  • Browsing and search: pages requested, search terms submitted to return results, and technical records such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and errors needed to operate and protect the site.
  • Accounts: if you register, we handle your email address, password hash, verification and recovery records, session information, and security events. We do not store your password in readable form.
  • Contributions: corrections, software submissions, sources or other evidence you provide, together with review records. Submitted material is reviewed before publication; private account details are not a public contributor profile by default.

Why we use it

We use information to deliver pages and search results, manage accounts and submissions you request, maintain security, prevent abuse, and respond to questions or privacy requests. One optional consent choice covers audience measurement and advertising. Depending on your location, Google's consent message may show controls required by local rules. Optional technologies remain off if we cannot support a required choice.

Cookies and similar technologies

An essential cookie keeps account sign-in working. One optional consent choice covers analytics and advertising. Optional technologies start only after you accept. Google may show controls local rules require. Optional technologies remain off if we cannot support a required choice. Declining does not limit browsing or searching ICEWALKERS.

Google Analytics 4 uses first-party cookies such as_ga and _ga_* to distinguish visits. AFS Analytics can use first-party cookies to measure visits to our site. Google AdSense and its partners may use first- or third-party cookies, pixels, or similar identifiers when ads are displayed. Blocking the essential session cookie in your browser may prevent sign-in.

Google Analytics 4

We use GA4 to understand site use, such as which software pages and discovery paths are helpful. Basic Consent Mode keeps GA4 blocked until you accept the combined choice. We do not send names, email addresses, account IDs, raw search queries, submission text, or administrator actions to GA4. Analytics does not personalize organic search rankings here.

AFS Analytics

We also use AFS Analytics to measure visits and improve our software and editorial pages. Its analytics.js library uses first-party cookies tied to our domain rather than shared cookies across unrelated websites. Visit information, such as pages viewed, browser details, and a visitor identifier, is processed by AFS Analytics for our traffic reports. AFS Analytics describes its data handling in its privacy and GDPR information.

AFS Analytics starts only after you accept the combined optional-consent choice. You can withdraw it through privacy settings.

Google AdSense and advertising

We display ads through AdSense. Third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads based on visits to ICEWALKERS or other websites. Google and its partners may use advertising cookies to personalize ads where your settings and consent allow it. One optional choice covers advertising and measurement. Google may show controls local rules require. Optional technologies remain off if we cannot support a required choice.

You can manage Google ad personalization in Google's My Ad Center. Learn more about how Google uses information from partner sites. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, we use a certified consent-management platform for the choices required by Google.

Sharing and external sites

Service providers may process information for hosting, security, email delivery, and site operation. Google and AFS Analytics receive measurement or advertising data according to your applicable consent settings. Links to software vendors, repositories, and downloads take you to third-party sites with their own privacy practices.

Retention, choices, and rights

We keep information only for the periods needed for each purpose. Legal obligations, an active security incident, or a valid rights dispute may justify a documented exception:

  • Sign-in sessions: the session cookie and login expire after 30 days. We remove or anonymize expired server records within 30 days.
  • Verification and recovery links: these one-time links expire after 30 minutes. We remove or anonymize expired token records within 30 days.
  • Optional consent choice:we remember acceptance or refusal for six months, and you can change your choice sooner.
  • Google Analytics 4: we retain user-level and event-level data for two months. Google's standard aggregated reports follow different retention behavior.
  • AFS Analytics: AFS Analytics retains visit data for up to 365 days under its standard setting. We delete or anonymize any exported visitor-level data when it is no longer needed.
  • Accounts and submissions: we keep account details while an account is active, then delete or anonymize them within 30 days of verified closure where possible. We retain rejected submissions for 12 months after closure; published software facts may remain while the public record is relevant, with personal details minimized.

Google controls the lifetime of its own advertising cookies and data. Our cookie settings let you decline optional measurement and advertising together and change your choice later.

Depending on where you live, you may ask to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@icewalkers.com.
