Icewm is the fastest wm I've tried and more is easy to configure using "icepref" which normally is in every dist but I suggest to search and install "IceMe" that flawless configure the menu bar.
Speed
With ice you can set up every aspect you wish, from the theme's to the menus, taskbar, etc... Set up your right click menu good, and you can navigate and do your work much faster than using something like kde. If you must have icons on your desktop, then just start up kfm in your .Xclients file. Don't give in to hype of other slower window managers!
IceWM
IceWM is small, fast and simple. Plus, it's practically ideal when used with the dfm file manager!!!
