Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 4,400,981 people from around the globe.
The most important thing about the world of Second Life is that it is constantly changing and growing. Here's why: Thousands of new residents join each day and Create an Avatar; Those avatars Explore the World and Meet People; Some people decide to purchase Virtual Land, which allows them to open a business, build their own virtual paradise, and more!
Second Life is about personal expression and your avatar is the most personal expression of all. Despite offering almost infinite possibilities, the tool to personalize your avatar is very simple to use and allows you to change anything you like, from the tip of your nose to the tint of your skin.
