Strata is a local AI inference app and engine for running supported language models on Linux. Its desktop app provides model setup and chat, while the terminal app can launch models and serve them through OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible APIs.
On Linux, Strata offers a desktop AppImage and a terminal installer. The desktop app downloads an engine package for the graphics hardware when it is first started. Coding assistants and other clients can connect to the local API, and models with image support can also accept pictures.
Strata brings model setup, chat, and an API server into one project, with both graphical and command-line workflows. Compatibility depends on the model and supported hardware; larger models can require substantial memory or disk space when their weights do not fit in GPU memory.
