If you want to learn to become a web developer grab this tool and learn everything you can about it. Don't be worried about whether it will be there in the future because it is open source!
Excellent System
It´s a little bit difficult to start with Zope ... but if you realize what happens inside of Zope thousend off "Very high dynamic Web-Sides" are flying in your brain and you know the simple answer to all the problems related to those sides: Just Zope: Some simple DTML-Methods, some ZClasses and it´s done. Best since sliced bread. Try it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Zope
Zope has the potential to be the best at everything it does. I have toyed with both Zope and PHP and after much tinkering I *much* prefer Zope's paradigm. However, I feel that Zope is not yet mature and so for production sites I am using PHP for now. I am keeping an eye on Zope though, since its developing fast and is immensely interesting. "The future is bright."
