Boot

Boot software starts an operating system and presents the choices or files needed during startup. SYSLINUX loads Linux from removable media, while GNU GRUB provides a multiboot loader for selecting among installed systems. The category also includes tools associated with preparing bootable installations. These programs operate before the main operating system has finished starting.
