Skill Seekers is a Python tool for building AI agent skills from existing material. Give it a documentation website, GitHub repository, local codebase, PDF, or another supported source, and it organizes the extracted information into references and a generated skill. It can also prepare documents for retrieval systems, making it useful when a team wants its own documentation available to coding assistants.
The practical appeal is that a skill can draw on more than a project's README. Skill Seekers can inspect documentation and code together, extract examples, and package the result for a chosen destination. Its documented output targets include agent-skill formats and data for RAG tools such as LangChain and LlamaIndex. Optional AI enhancement can use an API provider or a locally installed coding agent; source extraction can also run without enhancement.
From source material to a usable skill
The CLI accepts websites, GitHub repositories, local projects, PDFs, notebooks, and other file or service sources. A multi-source configuration can combine material into one knowledge asset. When documentation and code disagree, Skill Seekers can write a report at references/conflicts.md for review.
The core installation covers common sources and packaging; features such as the MCP server, video processing, and some document formats use optional dependencies. The command-line workflow can detect a source, create the knowledge asset, then package it for a target. An optional MCP server lets supported assistants call Skill Seekers tools from their own interface.
Strengths and things to consider
Skill Seekers suits developers who need a reusable knowledge package for a particular project or documentation set. Its range of inputs and outputs saves reworking the same source material for each destination. The result is still a snapshot of what was collected when it was built. For a version-sensitive library, use a versioned documentation URL or a checkout of the relevant release where possible, record that source version, and rebuild when the underlying material changes.
For a different task, Context7 retrieves library documentation for an agent's current question. Vercel Skills CLI helps find and install skills that already exist. Skill Seekers is the fit when you need to create a skill or RAG-ready resource from your own sources.
