Dvd::rip, Full-feature DVD ripping, transcoding and CD burning program.

Updated by Editors on Sunday, March 11, 2012.

Dvd::rip provides an easy to use, but feature-rich, GTK Graphical User Interface to automatise the ripping and transcoding process.

This includes ripping from the DVD, previewing and selecting chapters and angles, clipping and zooming the screen (powerful auto-adjusting), optionally recording subtitles (OCR), transcoding, and optionally burning on CD.

dvd::rip uses the widely known video processing swissknife transcode. Thus it supports numerous codecs: divx4, divx5, xvid, xvidcvs, ffmpeg, fame, opendivx and mpeg2enc. Audio can be Ogg, Mp3, AC3 or PCM.

dvd::rip also supports multipass for better quality/size ratio, on a bitrate basis.

Last but not least, it handles a comprehensive cluster mode, for parallel encoding.

dvd::rip uses many other free softwares (mplayer, cdrdao, xcdroaster, which can be changed in the preferences). dvd::rip itself is licensed under GPL / Perl Artistic License.
