Damn Small Linux is a business card size (50MB) bootable Live CD Linux distribution. Despite its minuscule size it strives to have a functional and easy to use desktop.

Damn Small Linux has a nearly complete desktop, including XMMS (MP3, and MPEG), FTP client, links-hacked web browser, spreadsheet, Sylpheed email, spellcheck (US English), a word-processor, three editors (Nedit, nVi, Zile [emacs clone]), graphics editing and viewing (Xpaint, and xzgv), Xpdf, emelFM (file manager), Naim (AIM, ICQ, IRC), VNCviwer, SSH/SCP server and client, DHCP client, PPP, PPPoE, a web server, calculator, Fluxbox window manager, system monitoring apps, a host of command line tools, USB support, and pcmcia support as well.

All Damn Small Linux applications are chosen with the best balance of functionality, size and speed. Damn Small Linux also has the ability to act as an SSH/FTP/HTTPD server right off of a live CD.

DSL 0.7.1 is becoming a well oiled machine for Linux users

DSL 0.7.1 now uses "dsl extensions" to add new features and programs to it's arsenal of software. Literally "One Click" installs: Xine, MPlayer, Firefox, OpenOffice1.1, Rox Filer, Abiword, Siag Office, Gimp 1.2, Quake2, Doom, VisualBoyAdvance, Icewm, xmame, and many more. Very fast desktop when loading the entire Linux OS to RAM Small-lightweight XTiny xservers (xfbdev and xvesa) run well on everything from p133/233/333's on up. ".ci" (compressed iso) extensions of firefox and openoffice allows for keeping ram usage to a minimum, while using high quality applications for everyday tasks. 1700+ member forums with almost 8000 postings of tips and guides , how-tos, and answers to installing and using DSL on most any box.

Damn Small Linux

Nifty little FAST distro. Boot the CD and you can install to USN key, CF card in a USB holder, hard disk, and other stuff (see the forums!).
