SuSE Linux 8.2 offers ambitious home users and IT professionals an extensive collection of more than 2000 modern Linux tools and software packages. SuSE Linux 8.2 contains 5 CD ROMs and 2 DVDs, a handbook, Quick Install Manual and 90 days free installation support (telephone, fax or e-mail). (Professional version).
Out of RedHat6-9x, Mandrake8-9x and SuSE7-8.x installations on a few different computers I liked the SuSE8.2 installation the best. With Win9x partition and a second hard drive SuSE8.2 was the smoothest to install. Ati tvtuner card, nvidia (yast2 updated the driver afterwards), cd-rw, brother-hl1230 printer, sound and nic were all found and configured. Realaudio, mozilla, flash and java installed by without me doing anything. Nice job SuSE.
SuSE Linux versatility

SuSE version 8.0 is a great distribution, both easy to setup and powerful.
The 'Personal' version allows newcomers to experience SuSE Linux without being overwhelmed by too many packages, and also to setup a workstation with relative ease.
The 'Professional' version includes everything you need to run a variety of server scenarios.
Overall SuSE Linux out performs other distributions, including many nice features, such as Yast Online Update.
I'd recommend it to Linux newcomers and hard core users too!
By far the best Linux distro

SuSE 8.0 is by far the best Linux distro. I ran Mandrake 8.2 which I loved, but SuSE 8.0 won me over once I learned that I had to edit my hp.conf file in /etc/sane.d in order to get my HP 4100c scanner to work. Other than that problem I would have always ran SuSE. SuSE is the easiest install, has the best Online Update in YAST control center, and was reasonably priced not to mention it is the most pleasing to the eyes...it is simply a beautiful and stable OS. Except for the fact I don't know how to make CD slide shows with music as in Photo Relay for Windows, I would abandon Windows completely and be strickly a SuSE Linux man!!!

SuSE Linux is way ahead of other distributions!

I would have to say that SuSE is way better than any other distribution. I've tested both Mandrake 8.1 and Redhat 7.2 which are way behind in certan areas, especially redhat.
SuSE Online Update feature is very awesome. I have updated the KDE and glibc and many other programs this way. very convienient.
YAST rocks!. YAST is suse's graphical administration/configuration tool which is nicely integrated in the KDE control center (can be run independent as well). This tools let you add hardware lightning fast, configure firewalls, update software, and much much more.
Even tough SuSE uses rpm, they have dependancy checks which means that if you select to install a software which required something you don't have installed, it will automatically selected the dependency packages for you. Nice.
One last thing, the default installation looks very professional. The best looking dist so far.
