IBM has updated their Linux based technology STEM (Spatiotemporal Epidemiological Modeler) enabling spatiotemporal modeling of infectious agents across the United States, providing scientists and public health officials with a powerful tool for understanding, and potentially preventing, the spread of infectious diseases with help from TIGER files. Version 3.0 contains public health policy events; a flexible log scale and map display gain factor; support for multi-serotype disease models; and many new maps of countries and regions.
