Thunderbird has several problems: (Nov 2004): 1) Unstable crashes sometimes 2) Big and clumsy (like outlook) for example recreates a whole set of folders for each pop server! 3) "pollutes" the email folders with files which should be hidden (index files) 4) Does not allow editing the "subject" line, or delete attachments. 5) Cohabitates poorly with kmail. index files creates problems. --------- Thunderbird has a nice user interface, but needs more work to be at par with its close parent: Firefox, which is very good. I am sure it will come. I would suggest that all Linux emailers can use the same Mailbox, if the user wishes to use more than one. At this time I will stick with kmail which is more mature and "clean". --------
It looks like suddenly with Thunderbird 6.0.1that attachments (Base 64 ; audio/wav) "disappear". In fact, they don't really disappear; they can be see when the user shows the message source. Unfortunately, however, the paperclip icon disappears from these type of attachments (audio/wav) and the attachment is neither displayed in the message body or in the attachments section. It is interesting to note that I have been using Mozilla Mail and Thunderbird as my mail client of choice for over 17 years and this is the first MAJOR disappointment with this product in that time.
